No politician can guarantee Brexit. Only the vigilance of the people can guarantee a democratic decision is pursued to its conclusion. Sadly, many politicians are seeking to frustrate Brexit – and they should be called out for doing so.
Leading the charge at the moment are elements in the Labour Party led by Keir Starmer and Tom Watson, who are trying to change the position as articulated in the Labour manifesto ahead of the election.
They would do well to heed the words of one of their own, Caroline Flint, the MP for Don Valley who has urged her fellow MPs, “Let’s not seek to sink the Brexit Bill with dozens of wrecking amendments. Let’s Brexit together and plan for the future. It’s time to move on.”
This is the simple message which needs to hit every MP’s ear and inbox from every quarter.
